Talking with Eric Vial, Eric VIAL, Délégué Général PROPELLET France
2020 has passed, long live 2021
The young wood pellet heating industry has grown rapidly since its inception some twenty years ago. In 2020, production reached 1.7 million tonnes. Since 2008, it has experienced a relatively linear increase of around 125,000 tonnes per year. Thanks to a dry, dense and homogeneous fuel manufactured locally and to the evolution of devices which have succeeded in meeting the many expectations of consumers in terms of comfort, reliability and performance, the fleet has grown rapidly. Today there are 1.2 million French households who heat themselves with wood pellets.
In 2020, despite a difficult context, boiler sales increased by 2.5%, after having achieved incredible scores in the first half of the year. Reinvesting one’s home seems to have become one of the major concerns of many French households.
Sales of stoves and other independent appliances declined. The number of parts sold still reached more than 127,000, or -19% compared to 2019. The year was more complicated for sales of independent devices because the “starters” were unable to open their doors during the period. 1st and 2nd containment.
It should also be noted that the professionals encountered great difficulties in the monitoring by the ANAH of the MaPrimeRénov aid. For some, the increase in demand for RGE timber qualification has also created a bottleneck in the flow of processing files for the renewal of their own qualification.
So, in view of the overall situation, the majority of professionals agree that their 2020 professional activity has not gone too badly. 2021 seems to be off to a good start, let’s hope it continues.
News from Propellet France, the national association for wood pellet heating.
The association brings together demanding professionals who are committed to the quality and development of the wood pellet heating industry.
Created in 2008 to serve the needs of a rapidly expanding sector, its ambition is to unite the various professions in the sector around a common language. The work carried out positions Propellet today as the essential partner for wood pellet heating in France.
At the start of 2020, the association brings together more than 350 members from all trades in the sector:
The strength of Propellet is the active participation of these members in the development of the association through their know-how and competence.
At the start of the year, Propellet launched a specific action to develop the network of professionals in the field: installers, masters and after-sales service companies. This action has borne fruit as more than 200 professionals responded favorably.
The goal is to create and serve a network of recognized professionals. These professions are an essential link in the chain because they are in direct contact with the end user. They are the ones who support him throughout the process: diagnosis, advice, sales, installation and after-sales service. Their role is also essential because they convey the image of wood pellet heating.
Propellet is currently in the process of surveying the installers, fitters and after-sales service companies who have joined it to better understand their needs in the field as well as their expectations in order to take appropriate action.
